Breast Implant Illness Resources

If you have decided to explant, I’m so happy for you! Some things to have in mind when choosing a surgeon:

  1. Explant with an en bloc capsulectomy. This will remove the implant and the scar tissue capsule surrounding it that your body forms in order to protect itself from the “foreign invader.” Chemicals from the implants are also housed in the capsule as they absorb from the implants over time. Some women who have not removed the capsule have still had symptoms and needed a second surgery in order to fully heal.

  2. Muscle repair can be very important when getting an explant, especially if you had got implants behind the muscle.

It was important to me to have a surgeon that knew how vital it was to remove the entire capsule during explant. I wasn’t comfortable with surgeons that said “I don’t normally remove the capsule because it isn’t necessary…but I will.” This made me feel concerned they wouldn’t be precise in getting the capsules removed.

Dr. Feng did my explant and was exceptional. From start to finish, it was seamless, she is very meticulous, has a deep conviction through her experience and research, that breast implants are making women sick and she genuinely wants you to get well. She no longer performs implant surgeries, only explant. I travelled over 6 hours to have her as my surgeon, many travel from all over the world.

Whichever surgeon decide to explant with, I hope the information shared here will serve as a guide in choosing the right one for you. Praying for you and your journey to regaining your health!
