God Speaks
God can speak to us through so many different ways. One of my favorite ways I feel Him speak to me is through nature.
In the winter, much of nature around us looks dark and dreary and as though there is no life. The leaves have fallen, died, and disintegrated. The beautiful blooms are no longer… But beyond what the eye can see and underneath the surface, those trees and perennial plants are still very much alive… and because they are rooted…they will eventually come back even stronger.
After a long winter, spring comes and something incredibly beautiful happens. We see that same tree or plant that looked dead and without life- flourish to an even greater capacity than it did the year before… We see even more blooms that fashion itself upon a rooted, healthy plant like a masterpiece. We see it become more luscious, more fruitful, more plentiful.
In our own winter seasons of life - things can look bleak…It can feel cold, dark, and without life… but as we ground ourself in Jesus and keep ourselves rooted in Him- we will become even stronger in our trust and faith in Him. When we choose to believe regardless of what the eye can see- God is doing a work beyond what we can see- He is strengthening us in Him and refining us.
In our winter seasons and always, let’s choose to root our faith in the God who created all things and who knows all things. The one who has been with us in every moment of our past, who surrounds us in every moment of the present, and who has already gone before us in the future plans and purposes He has for us.
In our winter seasons- let’s dig our heels deep into the soil of our faith in Him. Let’s dig our heels deep into trusting the only one that will never fail us. He is so trustworthy of complete abandonment of our own ways, our own thoughts and our own understanding (“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”- Proverbs 3:5-6) His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are so much higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). Moment by moment, let’s seek Him with all our heart and know that we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13) Let’s call to Him and know that He will answer us (Psalms 91:15….all while remembering He isn’t on our timeline) Let’s trust and know that He’s a God who cares about the details of our lives and knows the deepest, most intricate parts of our soul (Psalms 139:13-16).
Let’s remember when things are broken— He desires to heal- (“He heals the brokenhearted and he binds up our wounds.” Psalm 147:3) And that no matter what we are facing or have faced- He’s too good of a God to let any of our pain or suffering go in vain . He is a God who never causes the pain- but causes IT to WORK TOGETHER for our good and for HIS purposes (Romans 8:28). He’s so good that as we give it all to Him- He takes every single pain, every single tear, every single hurt and he works it together like only He can.
In the midst of our winter, let’s remember something beautiful is underway, Spring is coming and His glory will be on display in and through our lives as we stay rooted in Him. I don’t know how He does it, but as we trust and surrender it all to Him- somehow, some way- He does.
Love you friends.
